Tests of food and industrial fluids

Pumping abrasive or viscous fluids requires the adapted materials. The choice of the right elastomer affects the life and performance of the pumps. At the PCM Laboratory, the customized testing allow to analyze the rheological, physical and chemical properties of your fluids in order to determine the best technical solution (system and installation).

 

A SOLUTION FOR EVERY FLUID

Specialists in fluid management, PCM offers 3 types of testing adapted to your needs:

  • chemical compatibility testing,
  • viscosity testing,
  • abrasiveness testing.

For the tests, we respect specific procedures. A detailed report is created after the analysis including all the results and tests carried out.

 

CHEMICAL COMPATIBILITY TESTING: WHAT IS THE BEST ELASTOMER CHOICE FOR MY PUMP?

The chemical compatibility testing allows you to choose the right elastomer for your fluid. This is done through the chemical compatibility analysis of your product with PCM elastomers. 

These trials highlight measurements of swelling, solid density and chemical attack.
 

 

VISCOSITY TESTING: WHICH PUMPING SOLUTION IS THE BEST TO TRANSFER MY VISCOUS FLUID? 

This analysis measures and determines dynamic viscosity.

In the laboratory, the technicians study the viscosity of the food or industrial product in real conditions according to the rate of shearing. This work allows to correctly size your pumping equipment as well as your piping. Defined by our technical center, the solution calculates the pressure losses of your installation.

Example of products analyzed: pesto sauce, industrial sludge, glue...

 

ABRASIVITY TESTING: WHICH PUMPING SOLUTION FOR AN ABRASIVE FLUID? 

The test provides information on the abrasiveness of the food and industrial fluids. A specific machine is used to analyze the mass losses through friction with the product. The best materials resistant to fluid abrasion are proposed according to the degree of wear.

Example of products tested: toothpaste, road paint, washing powder... 

 

ELASTOMER EXPERTISE

Because we know that elastomers play a critical role in the life cycle cost of our products, PCM develops and manufactures its own elastomers to adjust to the most difficult food and industrial fluids, while other manufacturers use third-party elastomers.
