Industrial progressing cavity pumps
PCM use Moineau™ technology in our progressing cavity pump range, to ensure they can operate at a higher pressure than other positive displacement pumps. Our pumps offer very low shear operations, as well as being pulsation free, meaning they are ideal for any tasks which require a steady flow – no matter what the product viscosity or pressure is.
Moineau™ progressing cavity pump technology
Named for René Moineau, the inventor of the progressing cavity pump, our pumps use an innovative technology. Notable features of our PCPs include:
- Handling of both fragile and viscous products
- Flow rate is proportional to the running speed
- High suction, with the capacity for self priming
- Constant, non-pulsating flow
- Reversible
- Easy to maintain
Progressing cavity pump principle
A Moineau™ progressing cavity pump consists of a helical rotor, which turns inside a helical stator. The stainless steel rotor is machined to a high degree of precision, and the stator is moulded in a resilient elastomer.
This means that when the rotor is inserted into the stator, a double chain of honeycombed-shaped watertight cavities is created. When the rotor turns inside the stator, the honeycomb moves spirally along the axis of the pump, never changing shape or volume. This allows the product to be transferred from the pump intake to the pump discharge, without any degradation.
